Noticeboard

The 2017 Flu Campaign will soon be upon us.

If you are pregnant, suffer from a chronic medical condition or are aged 65 or over, you are entitled to the Flu Vaccine. All 2yr to 4 yr old children are now eligable and will be vaccinated in the practice. P1 to P7 children will be vaccinated by the school healthcare team.

Letter and text invites will be sent to eligable patients throughout September 2017.

Over the Counter Medicines

Guidance from the Northern Ireland Department of Health and the Health and Social care Board advices GPs not to prescribe medicines:

  • That can be purchased over the counter (OTC) by patients when they are being used to treat minor conditions or self-limiting illnesses or
  • Where there is no evidence base for their use

Please see the list of conditions and medicines below:

Patients are encouraged to self care and seek advice from their local community pharmacist to help manage minor conditions and self-limiting illnesses. Your GP will advise you of those conditions and examples of medication readily available and should be bought OTC.
